CONDITIONS TREATED

Hormonal Imbalance

  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is a multi-system condition that affects hormones, metabolic health, and reproductive health. Because it influences multiple body systems, care needs to address more than just symptom management.

    Common concerns may include:

    • Irregular or absent cycles

    • Acne and oily skin

    • Unwanted hair growth or hair loss

    • Weight gain or difficulty losing weight

    • Infertility

    Approach to care:
Root-cause evaluation of insulin resistance, hormone balance, gut health, and inflammation. Treatment plans may include individualized nutrition, movement strategies, targeted supplements, and hormone testing to restore cycle regularity, improve ovulation, and support metabolic health.

  • Comprehensive hormonal assessment and testing to identify and address the wide range of changes that occur during this stage of life.

    Common concerns may include:

    • Hot flashes and night sweats

    • Weight changes or difficulty losing weight

    • Mood shifts, anxiety, or low motivation

    • Brain fog or memory changes

    • Sleep disruption and fatigue

    • Vaginal dryness, discomfort, or urinary concerns

    • Bone/Joint changes

    Approach to care:
Treatment plans are individualized and may include functional foods, lifestyle strategies, acupuncture, targeted supplementation, and, when appropriate, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT).

  • Irregular or symptomatic menstrual cycles signal an imbalance in the way the body regulates hormones. A broad, whole-body assessment helps identify the factors influencing monthly patterns.

    Common concerns may include:

    • Painful, heavy, or unpredictable periods

    • Premenstrual cramping and bloating

    • Mood swings or irritability

    • Acne and fatigue

    Approach to care:
Comprehensive hormonal assessment with consideration of nutrition, gut health, liver function, and lifestyle influences. Treatment may include dietary strategies, targeted supplementation, and individualized lifestyle modifications to improve cycle regularity and reduce symptoms.

Metabolic Conditions

  • Whether starting a weight loss journey for the first time or feeling frustrated after many failed attempts, support goes beyond diets and quick fixes. Weight changes are often influenced by hidden factors such as insulin resistance, thyroid function, gut health, and chronic stress. Identifying and addressing these drivers creates a sustainable path toward lasting results.

    Common concerns may include:

    • Difficulty losing weight despite healthy habits

    • Plateaus with diet or exercise

    • Weight concentrated around the midsection

    • Frustration and lack of lasting results

    Approach to care:
Care begins with a comprehensive assessment to investigate health history, current habits, body composition, and goals. Treatment plans are individualized and may involve nutrition strategies, supplementation, acupuncture, hormone or metabolic support, and lifestyle therapies.

A dedicated weight loss program is also available through Wellness Services.

  • Athletes and high-performing individuals often push their bodies and minds to their limits. When recovery, nutrition, or mitochondrial function are not finely tuned, energy, strength, and endurance can plateau. Optimizing metabolic health supports sustained performance, focus, and resilience both in training and in daily life.

    Common goals may include:

    • Enhancing energy, stamina, and endurance capacity

    • Improving body composition and lean muscle maintenance

    • Accelerating recovery and reducing inflammation

    • Supporting hormonal balance and metabolic efficiency

    • Sharpening focus, reaction time, and mental performance

    Approach to care:
Assessment begins with a comprehensive intake, nutrition review, and body composition analysis to evaluate metabolic efficiency, recovery capacity, and mitochondrial health. Care plans are personalized and may include targeted nutrition, supplementation (within your sporting regulations), acupuncture, and metabolic support.

  • Blood sugar imbalances place stress on nearly every system in the body and increase the risk of long-term complications. Early intervention is key to reversing or preventing progression.

    Common concerns may include:

    • Rising blood sugar or A1c

    • Low energy and sugar cravings

    • Increased abdominal fat

    • Concerns about long-term complications (heart disease, stroke, kidney damage, nerve pain, vision loss)

    Approach to care:
Evidence-based strategies to improve insulin sensitivity and stabilize blood sugar. Care plans may involve metabolic testing, individualized nutrition, sustainable exercise, and targeted supplementation to prevent or reverse early disease.

Chronic Stress/Burnout/Anxiety

  • High-performance anxiety often affects individuals who hold themselves to exceptionally high standards — professionals, caregivers, students, and entrepreneurs who thrive on achievement but struggle to turn off their minds. Over time, the constant drive to do more keeps the stress response elevated, leading to restlessness, tension, and disrupted sleep or focus.

    Common concerns may include:

    • Feeling “on” all the time or unable to relax

    • Racing thoughts, overanalyzing, or difficulty switching off

    • Muscle tension, heart palpitations, or shallow breathing

    • Sleep disturbance, vivid dreams, or early waking

    • Irritability, low patience, or cycles of motivation and burnout

    Approach to care:
Care begins with a detailed intake exploring lifestyle, nervous system regulation, and contributing metabolic or hormonal factors. Treatment may include acupuncture to calm the stress response, targeted supplementation, adaptogenic botanicals, and individualized nutrition and lifestyle strategies to support focus, emotional balance, and nervous system recovery.

  • Fatigue that lingers despite rest is often more than “just being tired.” It may be linked to issues such as thyroid dysfunction, nutrient deficiency, mitochondrial inefficiency, blood sugar instability and more. Identifying the underlying cause is key to restoring lasting energy.

    Common concerns may include:

    • Waking unrefreshed despite adequate sleep

    • Afternoon crashes or “second wind” at night

    • Reliance on caffeine to get through the day

    • Low stamina for exercise or daily activities

    Approach to care:
Assessment includes a detailed intake and comprehensive testing that may investigation of nutrient status, multi-organ function, and metabolic health. Treatment is tailored and may include targeted supplementation, acupuncture, nutrition strategies, and therapies that support cellular energy production.

  • Burnout is a state of physical and mental depletion that develops when the body’s stress response is over-activated for too long. It often involves changes in cortisol regulation, nervous system imbalance, and depleted nutrient reserves. Burnout is especially common among professionals, caregivers, and entrepreneurs navigating constant responsibility.

    Common concerns may include:

    • Feeling emotionally drained or “running on empty”

    • Being “tired but wired” with difficulty winding down

    • Restless sleep, early waking, or poor-quality rest

    • Brain fog, low creativity, or poor concentration

    • Heightened anxiety, irritability, or sadness

    Approach to care:
Care begins with an in-depth review of stress history, sleep, and lifestyle. Treatment may include acupuncture to calm the nervous system, nutrient testing with targeted injections, adaptogenic botanicals, and individualized lifestyle therapies to restore resilience, energy, and mood balance.

    • Vitamin D

    • Vitamin B12

    • Folate

    • Glutathione

    * Note - Lab work is required for a vitamin D injection prescription

  • IM injections allow for higher levels of absorption than when taken orally. IM injections avoid the need for GI absorption & first pass through the liver. This is significant for anyone who may experience suboptimal gastrointestinal (GI) absorption.

Possible reasons for suboptimal GI absorption could include any digestive concerns, chronic/high stress levels, or medications that hinder specific nutrient absorption.

IM injection therapy not only improves absorption but also provides nutrients in their active form to subsequently increase utility and nutrient levels faster than oral supplementation alone

Hormonal Regulation Prescriptions*

    • Bioidentical Estrogen

    • Bioidentical Progesterone

    • Desiccated thyroid

  • For those with hypothyroidism, desiccated thyroid, which is derived from animal thyroid glands, offers a natural alternative to synthetic thyroid medications.

It provides both T4 (thyroxine) and T3 (triiodothyronine), which can help normalize thyroid function comprehensively.

When indicated, supporting proper thyroid function can help individuals regain vitality and balance

  • Bioidentical estrogen and progesterone creams or suppositories can be effective in alleviating menopausal symptoms by restoring hormonal balance.

These hormones are chemically identical to those produced naturally by the body, which makes them well-tolerated by most women.

Estrogen helps to relieve common symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness.

Progesterone is often used in conjunction with estrogen to maintain hormonal balance, protect the uterine lining, and promote better sleep and mood stability.

Together, they can improve overall quality of life during menopause, helping women feel more vibrant and balanced.

Glutathione Inhalation Therapy*

  • During this treatment glutathione is inhaled via the use of a nebulizer and a sterile one-time-use face mask to allow for delivery of the antioxidant glutathione directly to the respiratory system.

Glutathione is a naturally occurring tripeptide that plays a crucial role in cellular detoxification and protection against oxidative stress.

Inhalation therapy enables high concentrations of glutathione to reach the respiratory system to enhance local antioxidant defences and support respiratory health.

  • Glutathione Inhalation therapy can be utilized to support common respiratory concerns such as:

    • Colds/flus

    • Bronchitis

    • Upper respiratory tract infections

    • Rhinitis (ex. Nasal congestion)

Cosmetic Acupuncture

  • Cosmetic Acupuncture is a non-invasive facial treatment that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the face.

When thin needles are inserted intramuscularly to specific areas on the face, it stimulates the muscle and provide a natural lift. Smaller needles are also inserted but inserted intradermally directly into fine lines & areas of concern. The micro-tears to the skin stimulate collagen production and increase circulation to help reduce the appearance of fine lines.

To receive maximal benefit from the facial acupuncture, Gua Sha is performed, which involves the use of a smooth edge tool to stroke the face in designated motions.

These motions are thoughtfully administered to promote lymphatic drainage, improve circulation, flush out toxins, reduce puffiness, and brighten complexion

  • Anyone looking for support with healthy aging and/or looking to:

    • Improve facial lift

    • Reduce fine lines & wrinkles

    • Stimulate collagen production

    • Reduce appearance of acne scars

Facial rejuvenation can be a natural alternative to botox (or other neuromodulators) or a compliment to neuromodulators.

*Note a modified treatment is needed for those with neuromodulators.

  • Certification completed through Two Circles Acupuncture

Red Light Therapy

  • Medical-Grade Red Light Therapy (RLT) is phototherapy that uses red and near-infrared wavelengths of light as a modality for healing.

The light is absorbed by the cells of your body, primarily by the mitochondria to signal numerous therapeutic cascades to:

    • Reduce inflammation

    • Improve circulation

    • Increase energy production

    • Activate healing signaling

    • Enhance tissue repair mechanisms

    • Pain relief

    • Stress Management

    • Skin Health & Healthy Aging

    • Weight loss

    • Hair Growth

    • Muscle Recovery

    • Cognition & Mood

    • Sleep

Cupping Therapy

  • Cups are placed on the skin after application of a thin layer of oil. Suction is created to pull the skin and underlying tissues into the cup.

The suction causes blood vessels near the skin's surface to dilate, increasing blood flow to the area. This enhanced circulation helps to bring nutrients and remove metabolic waste.

The negative pressure created by the suction helps to loosen muscles, reduce adhesions, and release tension in the tissues

The suction also aids in lymphatic drainage by encouraging the movement of lymph fluid, reducing congestion and promoting the elimination of toxins

    • Pain Management: Used for chronic pain conditions such as back pain, neck pain, and muscle soreness.

    • Muscle Recovery: Assists in recovery from injuries and muscle fatigue.

    • Respiratory Issues: Applied to help alleviate symptoms of bronchitis and asthma.

    • Lymphatic Drainage: Helps facilitate lymphatic drainage by promoting the movement of lymph fluid and reducing congestion in the lymphatic system.

    • Detoxification: Supports the elimination of toxins from the body.

Intravenous Vitamin Therapy*

  • Intravenous (IV) Nutrient Therapy involves the direct administration of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids into the bloodstream through an IV drip.

This method bypasses the digestive system, allowing for more efficient and rapid absorption of nutrients. IV nutrient therapy is an adjunctive therapy that is always individualized to your specific needs.

  • Although always individualized common uses include support for:

    • Improving hydration

    • Nutrient repletion

    • Boosting energy

    • Supporting immune function

    • Malabsorption syndromes

    • Migraine relief

    • Chronic fatigue syndrome

    • Supportive cancer care

    • Detoxification

    • Athletic recovery

    • Chronic inflammatory states

  • IVIT can only be performed on premises certified in IVIT by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario.

For this reason, Dr. Maloney currently only offers IVIT at Metalab in Markham, Ontario.

  • Once registered, Dr. Maloney chose to further her education to meet the ND standard of prescribing and become certified in IVIT.

She was required to complete The Canadian Therapeutics and Prescribing course and successfully pass the Prescribing and Therapeutics board examination via the College of Naturopaths of Ontario to meet the ND standard of prescribing in Ontario.

Once the Standard of Prescribing was met, Dr. Maloney completed a CONO approved IVIT course and then successfully passed IVIT CONO board examination to offer this service
